Youth D & Youth X Lab Championships

Dates: June 6 & 7, 2026 Location: Boulder Lab Ferntree Gully Daily Schedule: 9:00 am – 6:00 pm

Boulder Lab is proud to host the Youth D & Youth X Lab Championships. This event utilizes a Full Youth World Championship format, providing our emerging athletes with an authentic professional-tier competitive experience. This event welcomes all Victorian, interstate, and New Zealand competitors.

Athlete Categories & Capacity

To maintain the integrity of the schedule, entry caps are strictly enforced:
Youth D: Max quota of 50 competitors per gender.
Under 13 (Born 2014 / 2015)
Youth X: Max quota of 30 competitors per gender
Under 11 (Born 2016 / 2017)

Schedule Overview

Saturday, June 6: Qualification Rounds for both Youth D and Youth X.
Sunday, June 7: AM Semi-Finals (Youth D) | PM Finals (Youth X and Youth D).
Competition Format
Following Youth World Championship standards to prepare athletes for the highest levels of competitive climbing:

Qualifications (Saturday)

Format: Flash format, 2 rounds of 3 boulders.
Protocol: 4 minutes on / 4 minutes off.
Support: Forerunning videos provided for qualification boulders.

Semi-Finals (Sunday - Youth D Only)

Format: Onsight format.
Protocol: 5 minutes on / 5 minutes off.

Finals (Sunday)

Format: World Cup Finals format.

Protocol: Collective viewing period followed by 4 minutes on / 4 minutes off.
Isolation & Support Rules

To support our young athletes, the following access rules apply to the Isolation (Iso) zone:
Youth X: Parents and Coaches are permitted into isolation. Standard isolation rules apply.
Youth D: Registered Coaches only are permitted into isolation.

Event Cost and Registration 

Youth X: $85
Youth D: $95 

Registration will close on Wednesday, June 3rd at 11:59pm, unless capacity is reached earlier. A wait list will be available.
